10-Year-Old Girl With Down Syndrome Was Separated From Her Mother At The Border. Will Trump Administration Take Care Of Her Better Than Mom?

The zero-tolerance policy of the Trump administration resulted in separation of families at the border. Reportedly, more than 2,000 immigrant children were already separated from their parents during 6 weeks in April and May.

It was recently reported that the 10-year-old girl with the Down syndrome was separated from her mom at the border.

Luis Videgaray, Mexico's Foreign Affairs Minister, reported that the girl is held at the detention facility in Texas despite the fact that her father is the US resident.

He added:

From conviction and by constitutional obligation, we cannot remain indifferent before an inhumane and cruel situation.

The girl was crossing the US border together with her brother and mom.

According to the law, it is not possible for the Justice Department to prosecute children along with their parents. That is the reason why a number of separated families has grown so much.

Kirstjen Nielsen, the Homeland Security Secretary, said:

Operationally what that means is we will have to separate your family. That’s no different than what we do every day in every part of the United States when an adult of a family commits a crime. If you as a parent break into a house, you will be incarcerated by police and thereby separated from your family. We’re doing the same thing at the border.

The zero-tolerance policy of the US administration makes thousands of children suffer without parents. It is not possible to believe something like that is happening in the 21st century!
