WBTV interviewed local community members, who revealed they are aware of the drug problem in the area, but lately, it's been getting out of control. Maya Estrada told reporters:

This is a child’s place. Families come here to enjoy their time.

People from the neighborhood went on social media to share their similar experiences.

Moms hope the police can get a handle on the situation as they're afraid children might accidentally pick up dangerous syringes scattered all over the area. However, some think it's better to go straight to owners of the park.

Hopefully, the authorities will look into the problem in order to avoid it from worsening.

What to do if you find a suspicious needle in your neighborhood?

First of all, you need to contact local police and spread awareness on social media. One similar warning post went viral in the community and continues to worry citizens.

Here are a few other things you need to know about handling those dangerous objects:

  1. Don't pick them up to avoid the risk of exposure.
  2. Call proper services to handle the needles.
  3. If you insist on cleaning them up yourself, use gloves, disposable tongs, and a secure container.
