The Giudice family, Real Housewives of New Jersey stars, are going through tough times.
Now that Joe Giudice is facing deportation to Italy, Teresa Giudice says she won’t follow her husband to his home country. But what are her options?
What Teresa says she’s going to do
Joe is serving a 41-month prison sentence for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud, and he is set to be deported to Italy once he's released. The RHONJ star has been living in the U.S. since he was a one-year-old, and his closest family became American citizens, but Joe himself never bothered to obtain American citizenship.
Teresa, who already served her 11-month sentence for the same crimes in 2015, says she and her husband will have to part ways in case his appeal falls through and he’s deported, according to People. She revealed her decision at a recent RHONJ reunion.
Sources told the magazine Teresa will stay in the U.S. and divorce Joe if he’s sent back to Italy. One source said:
Teresa told Andy [Cohen] that if Joe gets deported, she’s not going. She said that she and Joe had talked about it over the phone, and that he understood.
Another source added:
She didn’t really express any sadness about that. She just focused instead on the girls. It was very matter-of-fact.
At a previous RHONJ reunion, Teresa had said she would follow her husband to live in Italy.
What about the couple’s daughters?
Teresa and Joe have been married for two decades and have four daughters: Gia (aged 18), Gabriella (aged 14), Milania (aged 12), and Audriana (aged 9). What is the girls’ fate in this scenario?
Teresa says the girls will stay with her in the United States, People reported.
It’s a sad situation all around. We hope it resolves in the best way possible for the girls.
