As the new TV show Meghan and Harry Plus One appeared on the horizon, the critics already sharpened their claws. The NBS special features Meghan’s friends being interviewed by TV presenter Gayle King in an attempt to improve the Duchess’ reputation.

However, the former actress has been accused of personally approving the show’s guests, fueling the public rumor about her hunger for publicity.

That might cause some trouble in the royal family

According to the royal author Anna Whitelock, the way the Duchess of Sussex uses her American friends to boost her public image might cause some division in the royal family.

Whitelock warned that Meghan’s ambitions might pose a “challenge” for royals and can become "potentially divisive."

She said:

This is the sense that Meghan is this American outsider, a commoner, a mature woman of status, of ambition and, of course, who’s articulate and has views. All of those things can be celebrated or they can be seen as potentially divisive and a challenge, and that’ what she’s having to learn over the last year.

However, other experts disagree. Royal commentator Nick Ede says Meghan “never put a foot wrong” since she was stepped her foot into the limelight.
