Important health update

The latest health update on Alex will cheer us all for sure. In an issue of PEOPLE magazine, Alex says his doctors are positive that his stage four pancreatic cancer was in "near remission."

The 78-year-old finds this promising result to be great, as cancer has only 9% survival rate, and it seems he could possibly overcome it after all. Nothing is certain for sure, as the TV anchor is not totally out of the woods yet.

But his statement does give everyone a lot of hope:

The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.

NBC and CBS cut part of Alex’s statement

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Alex had credited the miracle of his health to the prayers of fans, with his doctors admitting that it may have played a significant role in his recovery. He said:

I told the doctors, this has to be more than just chemo. I've had a couple million people out there who expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy and their prayers. The doctors said it could very well be an important part of this.

However, when NBC Nightly News and CBS Evening News reported his recovery, the stations edited out Alex crediting prayers with helping his cancer battle in their broadcasts last week, according to Newsbusters. But ABC’s report mentioned that he credited his fans prayers for his survival.

In NBC’s broadcast, the Jeopardy star’s words on prayers were edited and an ellipsis was included in its place. The station reported it as:

I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed good thoughts… I told the doctors this has to be more than just the chemo.

Meanwhile, CBS only included a brief segment about the star’s recovery from the magazine.

This is what fans had to say about it

At this time, the reason why NBC and CBS did not include Alex's use of the word prayer remains unknown. We're looking forward to the full restoration of his health. Share this and send him your kind regards.
