It’s A Gift: Jenna Bush Hager Feels Proud That Her Daughters Got To Know Their ‘Gampy’, George H.W. Bush
Jenna Bush Hager feels deeply lost after the demise of her beloved grandpa, George H.W. Bush. But there is one thing that calms her heart amid this sad period.
Jenna Bush Hager speaks about her late grandpa
On November 30, America lost one of its greatest representatives, the 41st President George H.W. Bush. He passed away at his Houston home aged 94, seven months after the demise of his wife, Barbara.
As the US community mourns the passing of its great leader, the Bush family tries to deal with the loss of their beloved patriarch.
His granddaughter, Jenna Bush Hager, honored her grandpa’s memory with a tearful tribute. Although her heart hurts, Jenna revealed the one thing making her happy at this hard time. She is proud that her daughters got to know their “Gampy.”
Jenna and her husband have two daughters, Poppy and Margaret. Poppy got her name in honor of the late George, whose nickname used to be ‘Poppy.’ What a sweet gesture!
What a gift that my girls got to know our Gampy. What an honor that we could name our Poppy after such a principled, humble, kind man who we all loved fiercely and who loved us back. I read this letter—he wrote us—with new eyes: Remember the old song? "I'll be there, ready when you are?" Well, I'll be there, ready when you are. And if you need me, I'm here. Devotedly, Dad."
The 41st President will be put to rest on Wednesday in Houston alongside his wife Barbara after a four-day memorial service.
George H.W. Bush was a talented politician, a loving husband, and a doting father. Our sincere condolences to the family. RIP, Mr. President!
