Babysitter Is Arrested For Leaving Child In 120-Degree Car To Run Errands And Dine At Restaurant

A babysitter was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment. 60-year-old Helen Law left a 6-year-old boy alone in a hot vehicle with the windows rolled up. Luckily, a passerby noticed the child and called the police.

When they arrived, the kid was crying and sweating profusely. Officers managed to get the vehicle open. As it turned out, the temperature inside was 120 degrees! Then, the little boy was transported to a hospital for evaluation and further treatment.

The child had spent approximately 2 hours inside the sweltering car. Meanwhile, his babysitter was running errands and eating at a restaurant. The woman is now being held on a $100,000 bail.

The story quickly went viral, as people rushed to Facebook and shared their reactions. Most were outraged that the woman left the young boy so that she could go to a restaurant, while she could have taken the kid with her. Others were surprised there were still people who needed to be reminded of the danger of hot vehicles.

Unfortunately, dozens of children die each year in hot cars. Earlier this month, an officer in north Texas spent 45 minutes in the car to raise awareness and show how quickly the temperatures rise inside. Remember, when it’s 70 degrees outside, it can be more than 110 in cars, as they become a greenhouse.
