Prince William’s inheritance is much bigger than yours and ours might be. His father, Prince Charles, is already getting prepared for the day when William will take over the Duchy of Cornwall.

Charles took over the management of the 700-year-old estate when he was just 21 and spent 50 years in charge of it.

Soon it will be his eldest son’s duty to take care of the Duchy and the heir to the throne feels very emotional about it.

Prince Charles is in tears

Prince Charles gets emotional on very rare occasions and this one was one of them. The royal and his son participated in an ITV documentary about the Duchy of Cornwall.

Prince William is currently learning about the managing of the estate that his father has been doing so well for the past 50 years.

During the documentary, the 70-year-old talked about passing the Duchy to William. When asked about the “succession” to his son, the royal replied with tears in his eyes:

Confronting your own mortality is a very good thing for you, if I may say so, it’s quite good for the soul.

Emotionally, the Prince of Wales talked about William’s involvement in the process and his speech about inheriting the estate in the future:

I couldn’t believe it. I was deeply touched and moved by what he [William] said. It practically reduced me to tears, it did really because I suddenly thought... well just hearing that from him, has made the last 50 years worthwhile.

The Duke talked to farmers, sharing how he plans to run the estate. He noted that he will do exactly the same thing as his father has been doing.

Perhaps knowing that his son admires the incredible work he has done is what made Prince Charles so emotional. It’s wonderful to see royals acting like normal people and not hiding their true feelings.
