It is no news that with each passing day, Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting closer to sitting on the throne. This is no surprise given that William is second in line to the throne after Prince Charles.

If William gets to become King, then Kate will attain the position of Queen Consort. The tile is usually given to the wife of the ruling King and comes along with a coronation ceremony for the woman.

Luckily, it seems members of the royal family, especially the Queen, are catching up to this truth.

A source close to the family revealed that Queen Elizabeth had taken Kate under her wings to train her for her future role as queen consort.

"She's really taken Kate under her wing. The two of them will often spend hours discussing royal life and the future of the monarchy."

Don't call me Kate!

As lovely as it is to see the Queen guide Kate's evolution into a queen, a revelation suggests that the Duchess has been getting ready for her future role since the time of her engagement to William.

According to Express, columnist Adam Helliker disclosed that when rumors of William popping the question began swirling around, Kate took a step to ascertain her role as a royal.

Helliker explained that Kate wrote an email to her friends asking them to stop calling her Kate and refer to her as Catherine instead.

In Helliker's words:

"I hear that in the past few weeks the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal 'Kate' and in future wishes to be known by her full name: Catherine."

It was believed that Kate made that move because royal protocol prefers for one to be addressed by their full name.

Nevertheless, it didn't stop Kate's friends from feeling awkward about the request. One friend of the Duchess said to Mr. Helliker:

"Everyone knows it's about to happen with Kate and William, but we were a little surprised about the request to call her Catherine. There is a distinct feeling she has started to become very aware of her position."

Fans react

Just like Kate's friends, some internet users were also taken aback by the Duchess' request. Others thought it wasn't a big deal.

Kate's intention might not have been to spite her friends, but it seems she took her royal role too seriously!
