The royal family is a pretty big one. Apart from Queen Elizabeth and her descendants, there is also the family of Her Majesty's sister Princess Margaret.

David Linley, for example, is the son of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong Jones. The 57-year-old may not be one of the most popular royals but once upon a time many years ago, he had an encounter with his aunt Queen Elizabeth which singer Elton John apparently can't forget.

Teaching her nephew about respect

In his new book Me, Elton John reportedly recounted an incident where Queen Elizabeth got upset with Viscount Linley.

According to the Sunday Times of London, the Tiny Dancer singer wrote about how he once attended a party where Queen Elizabeth asked David Linley to look after his sister Lady Armstrong-Jones who had to leave the party because she was unwell.

Rather than listen to the Queen, David desperately wanted to stay behind at the party and have fun. He tried to dismiss his aunt but Queen Elizabeth just wasn't having it.

Elton wrote in the book:

When he [Linley] repeatedly tried to fob her off, the Queen lightly slapped him across the face, saying ‘Don’t’ – slap – ‘argue’ – slap – ‘with’ – slap – ‘me’ – slap – ‘I’ – slap – ‘am’ – slap – ‘THE QUEEN!'

The singer said he found this moment "hilarious." In addition to this story, he also dished on other instances that involved the British royal family.

A humorous queen

This isn't the first proof royal fans have had that Her Majesty has a sense of humor.

In her book The Wicked Wit of Queen Elizabeth II, Karen Dolby wrote about the funniest moments that involved the Queen.

Dolby wrote about an occasion where Her Majesty was asked why she loved to wear bright colors, to which she reportedly replied:

If I wore beige, nobody would know who I am.

This is only one of the many ways the Queen has shown her humor over the years. And they have made her more relatable as a result.
