The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to take a break from their summer vacation for a very important cause. The royal pair took part in the King’s Cup regatta – and it was the day to remember!

As the couple arrived at the scene, many people noticed a new change in Kate’s look. The Duchess’ hair seemed notably different.

It appears Kate dyed her locks in brighter color with pretty reddish hues and it suits her so well. But a new hairdo is not the only thing Kate surprised us with.

A competitive spirit

On that memorable day, eight boats participated in the race – each of them representing charities Kate and William support. The royal duo each skippered their own yacht as they were joined by six celebrity captains.

While both royals usually are on the same team, this time they were sailing on the separate boats. The Duchess competed on the behalf of the Royal Foundation while her husband led his team for Child Bereavement.

As the two went head-to-head, many were surprised to see just how competitive they are, especially Kate. The Duchess showed her fierce side when she tried to win in a friendly rivalry.

Alas, her team lost but Kate accepted the defeat like a real champion. She was presented with a wooden spoon after her team took the last place.

We are certain that the Duchess had lots of fun participating in the King’s Cup regatta, even though she didn't taste the victory.
