The Duchess of Sussex has made a name for herself, not just as a royal but thanks to her charity work, she's considered an influential woman.

Services to the public

Long before she became an official royal, Meghan was a counselor for international charity One Young World. Some of the topics closest to her heart include gender equality and women's issues.

Even as a royal, Meghan has stayed true to her feminist views and empowerment ideals, In 2019, when she visited Morocco, she focused on projects that had to do with women's empowerment and girls' education.

Made for the role

Biographer Andrew Morton, in his book 'Meghan: A Hollywood Princess', explored how the Duchess' efforts as a student were preparation for the woman she is today.

According to Morton, while studying Theatre and International Studies at Northwestern University, Meghan was determined to gain some practical experience in international relations.

She got an opportunity to participate in a six-week internship with the American embassy in Buenos Aires as a junior press officer. In this role, she impressed her boss and was described as efficient.

Mark Krischik, Meghan's supervisor at the time, said she had all it took to be a successful diplomat.

Later on, she took a trip to Madrid to participate in a six-week course in Spanish at the International Education for Students program.

Based on these experiences in the world of international relations, it's quite fitting that these days, she goes from country to country, doing her best to make people's lives better.

Discouraged from having an opinion

Meghan has always felt very strongly about her beliefs. However, journalist Toby Young told TalkRADIO that this isn't always a good thing.

He explained that members of the royal family shouldn't take a political stance and considering their lives are funded by taxpayers, they have an obligation to be "above the political sphere."

We doubt Meghan will hold back on her plans, though. Besides, since being a royal, the Duchess has only continued to embrace her large platform and make a difference.
