Diana and Charles tied the knot in front of the world at St Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1981. The Dean of St Paul's Cathedral Alan Webster presided at the service, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie conducted the marriage ceremony.

The wedding was so much of a big deal that the United Kingdom marked a national holiday on that day to celebrate it. Their nuptial was famously dubbed 'the wedding of the century.'

Diana's wish

However, what many do not know about Charles and Diana's wedding was that the Princess of Wales had a specific request about her wedding.

While speaking to 'Channel 5 documentary 'Charles and Di: The Truth Behind Their Wedding,' former Royal Navy Jeff Dykes disclosed that Diana talked to him about a desire she wanted for her wedding.

Jeff explained that four days before the ceremony, he and his wife attended a Royal Navy parade four, and they sat beside Princess Diana.

He stated that Diana looked shy as the tune 'I'm Getting Married in the Morning' was played by the navy band. Then she asked Jeff and his wife whether they would be watching her wedding, to which they answered:

"Yes, you bet we will be watching the wedding."

That was when the mother-of-two disclosed her wish, saying:

"Well, I wish I could find somebody who wasn't going to watch the wedding."

Jeff mentioned that from her statement, he inferred that Diana was very young and naive.
