Damage Control! The Queen Summons Prince Harry And Senior Royals To Resolve Family Crisis

Date January 13, 2020

The Queen is working overtime to handle the current complications in the monarchy following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big royal announcement. A lot is bound to be revealed in the coming weeks.

A royal complication

The royal family has barely recovered from the Prince Andrew scandal and now they are facing another massive one. In the past few weeks, a lot of changes have been made to smoothen things over due to the negative publicity that came from Prince Andrew's allegations. All of these culminated in the royal resigning from his duties and weeks later, the Sussexes made a similar move.

Harry and Meghan shocked the world, (royal family included) when they announced they were taking a step back from their duties. They also revealed that they planned to settle in Canada for the most part.

In response to this shocking news, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that discussions with the Sussexes are at an early stage as they worked on dealing with these "complicated issues."

Family meeting

According to the DailyMail, Queen Elizabeth has summoned senior members of the royal family, Harry included, to a meeting at Sandringham to air out the family crisis.

The outlet reported that Her Majesty invited Prince Charles, Prince William, and his younger brother to this summit to discuss what should be done before Harry can step down from his role as a senior member of the royal family.

Meghan, who's currently in Canada with Archie will not be physically present at the meeting but it's reported that she will dial in at some point.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Her Majesty was recently spotted at a church in Sandringham ahead of this big meeting, giving the impression that she's at the venue and ready to move things along.

There has been a lot of questions by royal followers following Sussex's move and based on the reported flutter of activities going on among the royals, an answer may be revealed soon.

Will Her Majesty approve of Harry and Meghan's decision to step back from their duties, or will a compromise be made? That remains to be seen.

What royal experts think

In addition to feedbacks shared online by royal fans, experts have also weighed in on Harry and Meghan's big decision to basically quit the royal life.

  • Ingrid Seward, Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, told HollywoodLife that the royal couple has a long way to go before truly being free as Harry just can't quit his heritage so easily,
  • Royal expert Marlene Koenig noted to OprahMag that the royal family should take the blame for the Sussex's decision because they didn't welcome Meghan with open arms.
  • Another expert, Victoria Howard opined that this move by the royal couple is unprecedented in that they implied that they want to be part-time royals. They hope to "carve out a progressive new role within this institution," she explained.

There seems to be a lot of uncertainty in the air following Harry and Meghan's announcement. As a result, the expectation is that the royal family will make things clear in due time. Meanwhile, fans of the Sussexes focus on seeing this as the couple's way of choosing their own happiness over some of the pressures they have been facing.

As those involved discuss the matter, all we can do is hope they find some common ground which ensures everyone gets what they want. What do you think the best possible outcome will be?
