Ahh...Prince Harry and Meghan Markle..will there ever be the time when the pair won’t be a part of sensational news? Probably not and we are actually happy about that. The pair made our hair stand on end when they announced their resignation as senior royals.

It seems that they won’t be leaving the royal scene completely but even the Queen herself admitted she would have preferred the couple to stay in her statement. But why are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry leaving the royal family?

Here are some suggestions

After hearing the shocking royal news, many major publications shared their own theories as to why Meghan and Harry decided to put an abrupt end to their lives as senior royals. We have collected the most interesting ones.

Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair believes that it’s all because of the Duchess of Sussex’s mental state. The publication quoted a source close to the couple, saying that Meghan has accumulated some ‘negative feelings’ about the UK because of the media attacks on her.

That’s why she doesn’t want to raise Archie under the watchful eye of the British press. That seems quite plausible and knowing Harry’s dislike of paparazzi, the Duchess wouldn’t need to try very hard to get him on her side.

Cheat Sheet

Cheat Sheet’s suggestion is not far from Vanity Fair. However, the publication thinks that it was Harry who pulled the trigger. It was said that the ginger royal finds living in the public eye very challenging.

Public obsession with Princess Diana led to a sad end and it’s understandable that Harry doesn’t want the same thing to happen to his wife and their son.

NBS News

This is where it gets interesting. Brian Moylan, a journalist from NBC News, believes that the reason why Meghan and Harry are stepping down as senior royals lies in money.

Meghan and Harry received a lot of hate online last year for flying on private jets, throwing a lavish baby shower and spending too much taxpayers’ money on their home’s renovation. So keeping themselves away from the royal family might help the Sussexes to cover their spending habits.

Express

The craziest theory comes from Express. The publication collected people’s opinions on Twitter and here’s what they’ve discovered: social media seems to believe that Meghan and Harry planned to step down for a long time but someone leaked information about it so they had to act fast.

But that’s not all. According to Express, users seem to believe that it was someone from the royal family, who did the nasty. Moreover, one royal fan noted that it could have been Prince William’s Communication Secretary.

What does Meghan and Harry’s resignation mean?

There are a few things to take away from the Sussexes’ royal resignation:

  • the couple wants to earn their own money, which might happen through their foundation;
  • they keep their titles (for now);
  • they will share their time between the UK and Canada (although it looks like Canada has become their main residence);
  • baby Archie is still in Canada and the couple might be raising him there primarily.

So it’s not the end of the world but it is a certain end of the Fab Four, and, perhaps, of the brotherly closeness William and Harry used to share. Is it sad? Yes. But we should respect the Sussexes wish for privacy and their desire for independence. All in all, we still have Kate and William!
