Queen Had Very 'Unsuitable' Photoshoot That Made Aides Fear It Would 'Bring Down The Monarchy'

Date October 29, 2019

The Queen has to follow a lot of rules when it comes to her every single move. From dressing up accordingly, to entering a room in a specific order – there are many things the monarch has to keep in mind. Even the Queen’s photoshoot is not like any other photoshoots we’ve seen.

Her Majesty knows how to hold a teacup in a proper way and in which hand to hold which utensil.

When it comes to photos, she knows how to sit and how to smile to look regal and appropriate. But there was one photoshoot that showed the monarch’s rebellious side.

The Queen’s photoshoot

Can you imagine Queen Elizabeth, the epitome of grace, posing like a professional model? Well, it actually happened once in a moment that was deemed ‘never to be repeated.‘

It was a scene only a few people witnessed. One of those people was the Queen’s dressmaker Angela Kelly, who ‘stood in disbelief.’ After years of repeating the same pose for photographs - sitting uptight and remaining a dignified look - the Queen wished to try something new.

Kelly recalls in her book about the monarch the exact photoshoot when Her Majesty did unprecedented – she posed with her hands in her pockets.

She wrote:

Her Majesty took her position in front of the lens and started striking a series of poses, slipping her hands in and out of her pockets and placing them onto her hips, mimicking the stances of a professional model.

The dressmaker, however, noted that those photos were not received well in the Palace. The Palace’s aids considered them ‘not suitable for the public eye’ and thought they will ‘bring the monarchy down.’

Social media’s reactions

Many royal fans loved the Queen for it, others didn’t even believe it’s real.

Look at QEII getting sassy. Love it!

Nice pose for her senior age!

Really lovely

Sassy gal!

We, personally, love those snaps and think the Queen looks very natural and relaxed. Despite changing her usual pose, she still appears very elegant but we can also see a spark in her eyes that wasn’t visible on her previous official portraits. What do you think about the photos?
