Meghan & Harry Hurt Queen By Saying They Don’t Want To Spend Archie's 1st Christmas With Her, Expert Claims

Date November 13, 2019

The Sussex couple announced their desire to have a break from royal duties. They will take some time off to enjoy the festive season with their baby son. It’s believed they will travel to the US to spend Thanksgiving with the Duchess’ mom Doria. However, it might mean that Meghan Markle and the Queen’s relationship could turn for worse.

The Queen might be feeling hurt

It’s been reported that the Sussex family might spend the winter holidays with Meghan’s mother in the US, rather than in Sandringham with the Queen.

It will be their son Archie’s first Christmas. Prince Harry has spent every festive season with the royal family in Sandringham, except that one time when he was on tour in Afghanistan.

However, this year the royal father might be sharing Christmas cheers with his wife’s close ones. The couple reportedly told the Queen that they plan to skip the annual Christmas gathering at Sandringham this time.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward shared with Daily Mail that the Queen is feeling ‘hurt’ that Harry and Meghan don’t want to spend Christmas with her.

She explained:

I think it’s sad they don’t want to be part of the family gathering, particularly now the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in their dotage. The Queen might be a little hurt but she’s far too gracious to ever let it show or be known.

Seward noted that she understands the Sussexes as Christmas at Sandringham ‘can be stressful’ and they don’t want that for Archie. But she noted that many generations of royal children have enjoyed their winter holidays there.
