It's Confirmed! ABC Drops The Date For Season Premiere Of 'Roseanne' Spin-Off In October

Three weeks after ABC pulled the plug on the Roseanne revival, the show's executive producer, Tom Werner, announced that a spin-off would be filling the vacuum created. However, there was a twist: Roseanne Barr will not be in the new show, named The Conners.
ABC canned Roseanne after Barr released a very offensive tweet about Valerie Jarret earlier this year. In spite of her profuse apologies to the network and Jarret, ABC maintained their decision.
Barr also shared her thoughts on the spin-off that excludes her. Apparently, she reached a settlement with the network, intended to save the time and energy invested in bringing back the show.
I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from ‘Roseanne’. I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved.
After weeks of anticipation, the network has finally announced the date for the spin-off show premiere. The Conners will make a debut on Tuesday, October 16, with an 8 p.m. timeslot. ABC also announced that Barr would have neither creative nor financial contributions to the new series.

Although commentators understand the rationale behind the spin-off, some ardent Barr fans are quite unhappy about it. Many suggest that The Conners is doomed for failure, insisting that Barr and her character, Roseanne, was the spine of the series.
I’m sorry but Roseanne made the show. She made a mistake geez get over it.— Terri Sullivan Diggs (@diggs_terri) July 25, 2018

While some fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the new show, ABC doesn't give any hints about how they intend to explain the absence of Barr in the series. All we can do is wait and see what happens.
