"Empire" Star Jussie Smollett Jokes About His Desire To Become ‘Black, Male Barbra Streisand’
35-year-old Jussie Smollett caught a lucky star when he was cast as Jamal in Fox’s hot show "Empire". While the drama series can boast such screen giants like Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, Jussie is catching a lot of attention for his incredible performance, as well as his directing skills.
Despite being gay, Jamal has enough sex-appeal and intelligence to swoon not only the male but the female audience as well. But who is the actor who can portray this character so well?

The actor can actually sing, and he does so well he released an album in 2012 and will release another one soon.

Smollett opened up about his sexuality on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” in 2015.

The 35-year-old started acting since he was 4 years old. His first big role was in 1992’s “The Mighty Ducks”. Two years later he starred alongside Elijah Wood in “North”.
In his interview to Variety, Jussie talked about making steps into the world of directing. After being enchanted by behind the camera work on "Empire" and observing the episodic directors, the actor finally got a chance to try himself in the director’s shoes in the fourth season of TV drama.
Now, he wants to show that he is serious about his new career pursuit and he has a great example to follow. Jussie said:
I always joked that I wanted to be the black, male Barbra Streisand - because she does it all and she does it well.
