This week, Australia welcomed Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. The royal pair arrived at the Gold Coast to mark the opening of the Commonwealth Games.

Prince Charles made a speech on behalf of the Queen and is currently actively attending to his international commitments. Reportedly, Camilla came along in an effort to improve his chances of receiving a royal title.

Perhaps, she wasn't too excited about having to tend to this obligation, because 70-year-old royal looked completely disinterested in the event.

Throughout the entire ceremony, Camilla was seen flipping through a magazine and not paying attention to what was happening. She even completely ignored the welcoming speech directed towards the royal couple by the Games Chairman Peter Beattie.

The public reactions on Twitter were mixed. Some were very understanding, some just laughed, and some weren't too happy.

In response to public criticism, the organizers of the Commonwealth Games have spoken in Camilla's defense, saying that she was simply tired from a long travel. “She was jet-lagged, she’d just got off the plane in the morning,” the Games Federation President Louise Martin said.

We can certainly understand Camilla's state after such an exhausting flight. Hopefully, next time, they will have a bit more time in between arrival and having to show up at a public event.
