The book gives an insight into the inner workings of the royal family, while also making some claims as too strange habits of Prince Charles, such as changing his clothes five times a day and taking his own toilet seat when visiting friends.

Queen Elizabeth may prefer William to be king

It would be pretty exciting if Queen Elizabeth decided to pass down her royal duties to her grandson Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton.

In the book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess by Andrew Morton, it is made apparent that Queen Elizabeth might prefer the works of her grandsons to her son Prince Charles.

A courtier told Morton:

The Queen trusts her grandsons. She has confidence in them in a way that she has never had with her eldest son. William and Harry have star quality, and are believable and authentic heirs to the monarchy.

And according to reports, the brothers have engaged with the public in a way that Charles never seemed capable. William and Kate are definitely a power couple, and all eyes would be on them if they were to officially take the royal throne.

Royal succession laws

If the Queen abdicates, retires, or dies, the throne will pass to Prince Charles.

Next in line is Charles' eldest son and Kate's husband, William, the current Duke of Cambridge. Third in line is Prince George, the son of the Duke of Cambridge, followed by his sister, Princess Charlotte, and the new unborn baby. Prince Harry - who was third in line to the throne in 2013 - is now sixth in line.

According to inside reports, abdication could be a real possibility for Queen Elizabeth. Her Majesty is said to have told her inner circle that if she is still on the throne at the age of 95, she will ask for a piece of legislation to grant her eldest son full power to reign while she is alive.

But only time will tell. We're not getting our hopes up until the Queen makes the announcement herself. We'll keep you updated if (big if) and when she does.
