Robert De Niro's marriages and love stories

The actor has been married twice. His first marriage was to Diahnne Abbott, his co-star from the film Taxi Driver in 1976. The couple had a son, Raphel, and De Niro adopted Abbott’s daughter, Drena, but their love story ended in 1988.

Then Robert met model Toukie Smith. They had a relationship but never tied the knot. The couple had twin sons, Aaron and Julian, via in vitro fertilization. Their relationship didn’t last either.

The actor’s second wife was actress Grace Hightower. They married in 1997 and a year after they welcomed a son, Elliot.

Even though Grace and Robert filed for divorce in 1999, it was never finalized as the two renewed their vows in 2004. Their family became bigger after welcoming a daughter, Helen Grace, via surrogate.

Robert De Niro is a proud father, but sometimes parenting is tough even if you are a famous actor. Raising children isn't a walk in the park. The Hollywood star said:

“I love my children, just being with them. It’s not easy. Sometimes it’s fun and you love your kids, and sometimes you want to kill them!”

He added:

“Then, when you have the good moments, you forget about the ones that weren’t good.”

Obviously, being a dad is hard, but Robert De Niro seemed to handle it. Do you agree?
