Ellen DeGeneres On The Way Mother's Second Husband Treated Her When Mom Was Fighting Disease

Date December 16, 2019

Ellen DeGeneres' life has never been easy, but she learned how to stay strong and patient.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show host experienced disapproval, depression, grief, and so forth. Ellen DeGeneres says her childhood and all hardships she has gone through influenced her brand of comedy as an adult.

During an interview with David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres revealed that after her parents divorced, her mother Betty married a "very bad man." The host was about 15-16 years old.

At that time, Ellen's parent was diagnosed with breast cancer and says the man used this information to sexually assault her.

Betty's then-husband told he wanted to feel a lump in Ellen's breasts in case if she had the same as her mother. He said he didn't want to upset Betty, so he wanted to feel on his own.

Anyway, he convinced me that he needs to feel my breasts and then he tries to do it again another time, and then another time.

The other day, he tried to break Ellen's door down and she ran away through the window in her room, because she knew there would be something more.

Ellen DeGeneres didn't tell anything to her mother Betty because she wanted to protect her, instead of herself.

And then she didn’t believe me and then she stayed with him for 18 more years. And finally left him because he’d changed the story so many times.

The only reason why Ellen DeGeneres shared this horrible story is to help other girls to not ever let someone do that or hide sexual assault from someone beloved.

That’s the only reason I think it’s important to talk about it because there are so many young girls and it doesn’t matter how old you are. It is just time for us to have a voice. It’s time for us to have power.
