After the untimely death of "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin in 2006 his family was shocked and riddled with grief. The Australian TV host and conservationist is survived by wife Terri, daughter Bindi, and son Robert. He was at the peak of his career and used his fame to save as many animals as possible.

Steve Irwin's father still can't handle his pain

Granted, his demise simply broke hearts of millions of people, including his father, Bob Irwin.

"When my dad passed away, he [Bob] chose to distance himself from everything dad loved the most,"

- Bindi Irwin said about her grandfather in a 2015 interview with New Idea.

"He hasn't had anything to do with us for a long time and he decided his own path... that's important, so good for him."

He has been estranged from his daughter-in-law Terri and grandchildren since he left Australia Zoo in 2008.

Irwin says he hasn't seen or spoken to his grandchildren for over 10 years.

He hasn't been invited to his granddaughter's wedding

Bob also has not been invited to the wedding of Bindi, which is set to take place in 2020 at Australia Zoo, which he had founded as Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park with his late wife Lyn in 1973. But despite the snub, Irwin says he wishes nothing but the best for his granddaughter and her fiancé, as well as his grandson Robert.

It's sad that the legend's father decided to figth the pain in his heart alone. Together the family is stonger, at least we believe that this is something Steve would like to see!

Taking care of animals wasn't just something that he did. It was who he was, and his family thinks the same. They are carrying forward his legacy by taking care of 1,200 animals at the Australian Zoo and are back on TV after a long hiatus. And hopefully, it's not too late for the family reunion!
