Eddie Van Halen's throat cancer

TMZ has reported that Eddie Van Halen is currently struggling with throat cancer and is shuttling between the United States and Germany to get treatment.

The publication reported that the musician has been treating his condition for many years as he was diagnosed in 2000. It was reported that Eddie believes his metal guitar pick is to blame for causing the condition as he would often cradle it in his mouth.

After being diagnosed, doctors reportedly removed 1/3 of his tongue as part of the treatment and when the cancer cells appear on his throat, doctors would scrape them out.

Sources told TMZ that Eddie has been flying to Germany to receive radiation and for the most part, his disease is being kept in check. Insiders are reportedly unsure of his current health status but it's generally believed that he's doing okay.
