Dr. Ranj Talks About The Difficulty Of Coming Out As Gay To His Wife And Religious Family

Western cultures are now supporting preferred sexuality but, in Asian countries, it is still can be a problem. In such a congested environment, gay men feel trapped and it is nothing short of a battle for them. Fortunately, they have a representative to start the new dawn of time.

Strictly Come Dancing star Dr. Ranj Singh shares his coming out story

Ranjit Singh aka Dr. Ranj is a British doctor, TV personality, best-selling author and columnist. His biggest claim to fame is starring in the dance series, Strictly Come Dancing on BBC, and co-creating the CBeebies program, Get Well Soon from 2012 to 2015.

Ranj also presents ITV This Morning, as a resident doctor and co-hosts Save Money: Good Health with Sian Williams.

Ranj was raised in a religious Sikh family, as he revealed to Attitude magazine. At a very young age, he was taught to conform and follow the traditions. There was no chance for him to go sideways so, he throttled down his feelings whenever they surfaced. The celebrity doctor married a girl and tried to build bis own family. Soon, the TV star realized that he wasn't happy.

He thought of being the worse person ever as his wife didn't deserve this harsh reality. The relationship ended but, their families never knew the real reason. Ranj had to confess his sexual orientation to his family.

The TV personality started off by disclosing it to his closest family members: his two brothers. It was a difficult decision. Luckily, one of them embraced his new identity.

The whole experience of coming out was a nightmare as Ranjit couldn't sleep or eat and had many guilt trips.

Dr. Ranj's ex-spouse, Sulvinder Samra went through a great deal of pain after their divorce in 2011. However, she was able to rebuild her life. For that, the anchor has a lot of respect for her.
