Breastfeeding is a quite natural process, breast milk provides all the energy and nutrients that the baby needs for the first months of life. Moreover, breastfeeding has various health benefits both for children and moms.

In 2018, the law allowed women to nurse their babies in public places in the United States. However, women are still being shamed for it, and it doesn’t seem that the public shaming will stop anytime soon.

Breastfeeding mom was told to ‘cover up’

Nursing mothers are still being shamed for doing the absolutely natural thing, feeding their babies in public. One breastfeeding mom was asked to “cover up” at a restaurant, but her response was hilarious and quickly became viral.

The story was told by Carol Lockwood. She posted a picture of Melanie Dudley breastfeeding her 4-month-old baby in a restaurant with a blanket thrown over her head. The cloth completely covered her face.

The woman wrote in the caption:

A friend’s daughter-in-law was told to ‘cover up’ while feeding her baby, so she did!

The post received lots of comments and more than 100 thousand shares. People definitely loved the joke.

Lockwood added:

PS: To reduce speculation: it was a man who asked her to cover up, it was 90 degrees and extremely humid, and, no, she wasn’t in a Muslim country disrespecting traditions.

Breastfeeding is not an easy thing, but it something that has to be done. Those people who are opposed to this idea were kids themselves too. It makes us wonder would they like if their mothers were publically shamed for nursing them?
