5 Reasons Why Believers May Still Need Church In 21st Century

Inspiration

It is a known fact that all over the world, believers start refusing to attend church meetings and services. The reasons include busy schedule, personal attitude to pastors, offence from church workers, and so on.

Thus, should we really stop attending churches? The following are some of the cogent reasons why you still need church and shouldn’t avoid going there.

1. Building Godly association and relationships.

It is said that one's life goes in the same direction as the lives of other 5-7 people a person spends time with. If that holds true, then you need to be around godly people.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Cor 6:14

Being an active part of the church family helps you accomplish this and even more. It enables you to surround yourself with people of like-faith and like-minds.

2. It is the will of God.

As children of God, one of our major focuses and concerns in life is to fulfill the will of our Father. So, every time we discover his will, we should do everything to accomplish it.

Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching. Heb 10:25 - AMP

This is a direct instruction from God to us as believers. He asks not to neglect the gathering and assembling of believers. In fact, he goes ahead to refer to it as the habit.

Most importantly, the concluding part of that verse says that we should do this faithfully. In other words, with every passing day, we should be more committed to the church of Jesus Christ.

3. Strengthening your relationship and walk with God.

Just like we saw in Heb 10:25, one of the benefits of participating in the gathering and assembling together is the fact that we can admonish, warn, urge, and encourage one another. There is something about being together with other Christians that stirs you up for a better relationship with God.

People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron. Prov 27:17

There, you can always meet people with more passion, individuals who knew the holy words better, or persons who can show you how to worship. Then, you can be motivated to achieve the same results.

4. You will increase your knowledge of the word of God.

The word of God for us as Christians is much more than just a document of religious history. It is a book of rules and regulations that guide our lives. It is also a book of life and manual for victorious Christian living.

As such, every believer should live according to these rules. Yes, we can always study and learn the truth of Bible for ourselves in the confines of our homes and offices, but in the church, you can deepen your understanding.

But Jesus said, “Your error is caused by your ignorance of the Scriptures and of God’s power! Matt 22:29

If you want to live your life in a proper manner, this is the recipe. You need to consistently increase your knowledge of Bible, and church is one of the places to do that.

5. The church needs you.

You need the church because the church needs you too.

He also gave apostles, prophets, missionaries, as well as pastors and teachers as gifts to his churchTheir purpose is to prepare God’s people to serve and to build up the body of Christ. Eph 4:11-12

However, the role of people is to serve Jesus Christ and churches. In other words, while we need the church to develop spiritually, the church also needs us for it to be built up.

So, whether it is for the purpose of building godly relationships, doing the will of God, stirring yourself up for greater exploits, increasing your knowledge of the word of God, or helping in the building of the church, you have more than enough reasons to be a vital and active part of this holy place.

Which of these reasons resonate with you the most?
