Would He Feel Comfortable?

If Jesus physically walked through your house, would He feel comfortable? Would He find the place habitable and conducive for Him to stay?

One thing the Bible tells us about God’s character is that He is too holy to behold sin. As a matter of fact, that was the reason why God literally abandoned His Son when He had carried the sin of the whole world upon Himself.

Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened:

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. Isa 59:1-

God did all that was necessary to save mankind from their sins in the person of Jesus Christ.

Things That Make Him Uncomfortable

Having established that our sins create a barrier between us and our God, it would be appropriate to point out a few of them for you. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list, but it can give you an idea of what God expects of you.

1. Hot-temper

A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention. Prov 15:18

There are homes that feel like war zones! Everyone shouts on others. But this kind of attitude actually keeps God and His presence away from our homes.

Nothing beats a peaceful home with a meek ambiance when it comes to a place where God can dwell permanently.

2. Anger

A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression. Prov 29:22

Closely related to short-temper, anger is actually a killer. Often, when people allow themselves to be overtaken by anger, they end up doing and saying things they do not want.

That is why the scripture admonishes us to ensure that in our anger, we do not make sins. Don’t allow yourself get angry enough to say and do things you may regret later.

Asides from the fact that this keeps you from having to be sorry when the dust clears, it also ensures that you enjoy that sweet presence of God in a unique way.

How To Make Your Home Conducive For Jesus

To do that, there is really just one condition to be met. Once this is met, you will be amazed at how other things will fall into place for you.

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. John 14:23

The first and only criterion to be met here is to love God! When you love Him, this positively affects your life. It makes you cool, calm, and calculated instead of being hot-tempered. It makes you peaceable. It really changes everything about you.

So, in the midst of all the festivities and activities, do not be anger, hot-temper, envy, and jealous.

Just focus on loving God and pleasing Him.
