Pets who live on the street or in an animal shelter have a very difficult fate. Fortunately, there are people who help them and make their lives better.

UK residents Georgina Price and her fiancé Christopher Lardner took two cats in from a shelter. One of them, Toby, is very unusual – he looks like an old man.

The fact is that the feline suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, in which, due to a lack of collagen, the skin becomes very elastic, fragile, and flabby. Because of this, Toby looks inconsolably sad, although now he is happy to live a life that many animals can only dream of.

At first, Toby and his brother Quinton were uneasy in the new place and used to hide under the bed for weeks, but eventually got settled in. Despite his illness and delicate, vulnerable skin, Toby lives a practically full life. He loves to doze in the sun, watch the birds, and to have his belly rubbed.

Quinton tries to wash Toby's face whenever possible and hides his claws when playing.

Georgina hopes that Toby’s story will not only raise awareness of his rare disease but also make people consider taking special needs pets in. By the way, Quinton is also a special kitty case, as he doesn't have any teeth.

Despite whatever it is that may make them ‘special needs’, they are still beautiful animals with their own amazing personalities, likes, dislikes, and the ability to love you back.
