Kim Kardashian Showed The Way She Managed To Squeeze Into Her Tight Met Gala Dress

Date May 10, 2019

Celebrities who like to amaze and shock the public with their extraordinary looks sometimes do it in groups. Good thing is that there are reasons galore for this – festivals, fashion shows, movie premieres, and advertising campaigns.

One such an event is the annual fancy-dress ball Met Gala, organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It is patronized by the chief editor of Vogue magazine Anna Wintour and she is also the one who makes the list of guests.

All world-class stars of the movie industry, showbiz, and the biggest fashionistas (stylists, designers) look forward to this event to stun the public with the look they've created, which is defined by the theme of the party.

In 2019, Met Gala was held for the 71st time. The guest list included Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Serena Williams, and other celebs.

The theme was "Camp" (based on Susan Sontag's essay, Notes on 'Camp') which is a special style of grotesque mannerism, with sensuality and aesthetics expressed through exaggeration and levity.

For instance, Kim Kardashian embodied the theme of the ball with the help of a "wet" dress – the creation of French fashion designer, Thierry Mugler.

It took the couturier eight months to make the dress with "water drops" and three assistants to put Kim's body into a corset right before she had to go.

Having put on the dress, the reality TV show star could walk and stand, but her movements were rather limited. She couldn't sit and the dress generally wasn't designed for visiting the restroom. The process of dressing up was filmed and Vogue shared it with their followers.

What do you think about such a sacrifice for beauty and public attention? Would you be able to do this or do only stars like such things? Please, share your thoughts in the comments below.
