From Jail And Rehab To Famous Actor: The Story Of Robert Downey, Jr. Plus Other Celebrity Turnarounds
When we look at famous people we often think that they were just lucky, that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Like, they had well-off parents, a happy childhood and other benefits. It's impossible not to become a world famous person having a good foundation! However, there are some stories which show that we shouldn't jump to conclusions.
For instance, the childhood of the talented comedian Jim Carrey was far from perfect. From an early age, he had to earn his own living doing, among other things, unskilled labor work. Only hard work and refusing to give up helped him to end up where he is now.
Johnny Depp didn't have a particularly happy childhood either. He was quite a troubled teen, partied hard from the age of 12, and had depression. He only managed to make up for all the hardships in adulthood when he became a famous Hollywood actor.
Another Hollywood actor has also had his hard times. At the start of his career, when Robert Downey Jr. was considered one of the rising stars at the time, he developed a drug addiction. No studio wanted to work with Robert and his contracts were broken off one by one.
In 1996 he was charged with drug possession and sentenced to jail.
Downey Jr. himself confessed that his first time trying drugs was at the age of 8 with the help of his own father. Just great!
After forceful treatment, the actor overcame his drug addiction and became a completely different person. After this breaking point, Robert's career started to go up again.
As you can see, success comes at a price. In order to achieve something, famous people worked their fingers to the bone. Like Seneca said:
It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness.
We hope these three stories have given you the motivation to achieve your goals!
