Some fans of the royal family believe that Kensington Palace is no longer the same: Kate, William, and Harry, who had previously worked together, seem to be ready to go their separate ways. We wrote about a possible formal division of responsibilities between the brothers, which could disappoint those who expected the ‘fab four’ to try and change the monarchy.
However, it is likely that the Cambridges and the Sussexes will work in different fields. This assumption probably has something to do with rising rumors of Meghan Markle’s excessive demands. A few months ago, The Daily Mail reported that just six months after Harry and Meghan’s wedding, one of the assistants, 39-year-old Melissa Toubati, left the Duchess.
A little later, royal family fans noticed that Kate Middleton's PA, Natasha Archer, also went off the radar, which sparked talks about her possible dismissal.
According to Mirror’s inside source, Toubati had put a lot of effort into preparing for Meghan and Harry’s wedding, and the reason she left was that her job became:
...highly pressurised and in the end it became too much.
Before joining the royal office team, Melissa used to work with famous singer, Robbie Williams. In all fairness, it hasn’t been confirmed that Toubati’s resignation has anything to do with Markle’s tough managerial style. But it is somehow easier to believe that her contract simply expired, than that charming Meghan is a monster-boss lady, isn't it? Anyway, the Duchess can rely on the professional support of another assistant, Amy Pickerill, about whom we wrote here.
As for Natasha, her disappearance is hardly a secret at all: at the end of 2018, she gave birth to a charming boy named Theo. It was assumed that Natasha was going to leave her post after she appeared on the list of the office staff to be awarded the Royal Victorian Order for outstanding personal and professional services. Because usually, the employees leave their position shortly after receiving it.
Natasha Archer worked for the royal family since 2007, later becoming Kate Middleton's assistant, and in 2014, her personal style advisor. Like her husband, royal photographer Chris Jackson, Archer used to accompany the Cambridges on official tours. Over the years she has developed good relations with Kate: Natasha was one of the first to visit the Duchess after the birth of each of her children.
Maternity leave in the UK can last from a few months to a year, so Natasha Archer will most likely return to work in the foreseeable future. An employee of a famous family should be prepared for such rumors. And we can only hope that no rumors will spoil young mother’s mood and relationships with the Cambridges.
