1. Uniform

As in many educational establishments, students of the University of St Andrews had to wear classic uniforms: white top and dark bottom. Simple, strict but quite nice.

2. Cowboy style

Like many young girls, Kate often preferred comfortable casual clothing. In particular, the fans of the Duchess may remember one of her original ‘cowboy’ looks.

She would complement low-rise jeans, then fashionable, with not too bright and comfortable pullovers, often in combination with shirts. High boots, a blazer to match and a hat: a great solution for leisure, isn't it?

The next Kate’s look is somewhat similar, but the jeans were replaced by an equally comfortable and practical skirt.

3. Casual chic

Probably, in her younger days, the Duchess was inspired by the traditional Parisian trends.

4. Love for prints

When Middleton was pregnant with her third baby, we often noticed that she preferred clothes of affordable brands, often with floral prints or similar decorative details, abstract and geometric. Apparently, this fascination started in her youth.

By the way, monochrome looks have come in the fashion not so long ago, but many years ago Kate apparently knew that such solutions are almost unfailing.

5. Open dresses

Now Middleton rarely allows herself outfits with a deep cut or a revealing shoulder line. But before joining the royal family, she used to prefer simple dresses from practical and pleasant fabrics accentuating her figure. By the way, it was a provocative dress that made William look at his future spouse differently.

6. Official events

Being the Prince’s girlfriend, Kate had to attend various events, sporting elegant attires. An obligatory accessory for every official outing is a headwear. If a garment could be rather inconspicuous, it was possible to add some extravagance to the look with the help of a fascinator.

By the way, some of Kate’s earlier look could have been inspired by Princess Diana’s style.

Over the years, every woman develops a more deliberate and consistent approach to selecting her wardrobe. Standing next to each other, middle-class Kate and Duchess Catherine would seem completely different people.
