The complex love story of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles has been quite popular recently. The fact that the Dukes of Cornwall were in a relationship while both legally married caused the situation to get even more widely discussed. The lovers continued taking risks, traveling together, and giving gifts even on the eve of the Dukes’ wedding with Diana

If Charles’ sons have repeatedly made public appearances, Camilla’s children haven’t been as popular. Having become a part of the royal family, their mother could have taken care to ensure a bright future for her kids. However, Camilla didn’t do this. What is even more, her children aren’t mad at her at all for it.

Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973, shortly after breaking up with Charles. Few people know that in her youth her first husband was courting Princess Anne, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth. A year later, Camilla welcomed her first child, Tom, whose godfather turned out to be Charles.

Tom is said to be a problem child because of issues with banned substances. Even if this is true, Tom managed to reconsider his life: he is now a praised author of cookbooks and a respected family man. In 2005, he married fashion editor Sarah who welcomed him daughter Lola and son Freddie. Tom is also an esteemed restaurant critic and judge of various culinary reality shows.

Camilla’s daughter Laura is 4 years younger than her brother. Having received an excellent education, the girl began her professional career in the arts. She oversaw The Space Gallery in London and co-founded the gallery Eleven Fine Art.

Apart from that, she tried her hand at journalism, leading columns in popular publications The Daily Mail and Tatler. In 2006, Laura married Harry Lopes, with whom she welcomed daughter Eliza, and twin boys Gus and Louis.

Although their mother is a Duchess, both children lead a fairly normal lifestyle. They are said to be close to Camilla and often visit her and Prince Charles. At the same time, they are rarely seen at Windsor celebrations (except for wedding ceremonies).

Nevertheless, Tom and Laura aren’t frustrated by the lack of involvement in the royal family, as Parker-Bowles mentioned in an interview with the Good Morning Britain hosts. They consider themselves ordinary people and value their privacy, maintaining friendly relations with their stepbrothers.

It would probably have been different if Charles and Camilla had children in common, but this seemed impossible throughout their rich love story. At first, they were hampered by unlucky marriages. Even after their marriage in 2005, they had no time for more kids: Camilla was already almost 60. In addition, the issues of succession and public opinion could have also been strong arguments against childbirth. Do you think that having a common child would have changed much?
