Now We Know Everything: Harry, William, Kate, And Meghan Had Their Security Code Names Revealed

Date October 2, 2018

The history of different royal families has witnessed many cases of assassinations, committed for a variety of reasons. Today every self-respecting celebrity has at least a few bodyguards, and as for government officials and royal representatives - they spare no expense to ensure their security.

The British royal dynasty is perhaps one of the most popular nowadays. There is even a dedicated London police unit, SO14 Royalty Protection Group, and its professionals ensure different aspects of the royals' protection at once. They ensure the personal safety of given monarchy representatives as well as their estates. There is also a special escort group that accompanies them on all local and overseas trips.

In addition, SO14 specialists protect data, information that can be stored on various devices, conduct video surveillance and prevent intrusion into the royals’ private life, usually attempted by media representatives. It's not only Queen Elizabeth, Philip, Charles, and Camilla who have personal guards, but the younger generation as well. William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan all lead quite a public life, so they also require protection. Of course, while performing their duties security officers communicate with each other about their "objects." However, for purposes of secrecy (even a most experienced professional isn’t immune to being heard or leaking information), they don’t call them by their names. Everyone who uses the services of this police unit has a nickname that makes it harder for perpetrators to guess who they are talking about.

According to an insider, they often change these code names, meaning they are quite difficult to track. Nevertheless, it became known what bodyguards call the Dukes and Duchesses of Sussex and Cambridge, or, at least, what they used to call them.

The official titles of the newly-created couple, Harry and Meghan, are Duke and Duchess of Sussex. When creating their code names, capital letters D and S were used as initials. Thus, Harry was David Stevens, and Meghan was Davina Scott.

It is also known that back in the day when Meghan was still acting in the Suits series, but there was already no stopping the rumors of her romantic relationship with one of the heirs to the British throne, her future husband “shared” his personal bodyguards with her.

A similar approach was deployed for inventing the code names of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The initial letters of their titles – Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – were also taken as initials. So, the couple was called Danny Collins and Daphne Clark among their securities.

We don’t know whether the codenames of the royal family representatives always begin with the capital letters of their titles, and it's unlikely we ever will.
