On July 13, 2018, Donald Trump with his wife Melania arrived in London to meet Elizabeth II.
The American president spent 45 minutes talking to the Queen of the UK and the other Commonwealth realms, and they got along really well. At least that’s what he said!
But what are really the dynamics between the two leaders? Although the royal family should remain apolitical, the internet users have found many indications that allegedly, the Queen isn’t really a Trump fan.
If it is indeed so. Elizabeth II chose the best way to demonstrate her attitude to Donald Trump – through fashion!
Elizabeth II is not only known for her coats of all colors of the rainbow and hats to match, she is also famous for her extensive collection of brooches. The rumors are she uses them to expresses her opinions on a particular subject.
Thus, Twitter user @SamuraiKnitter pointed out a peculiar choice of brooches the Queen wore during Donald Trump’s visit.
On the first day of the meeting, July 13, the Queen put on a little emerald brooch.
That by itself is amusing enough. She wore a brooch the Obamas gave her. But it gets better. It's not AN American brooch, any would be funny. She chose THIS ONE. This one was purchased out-of-pocket by Michelle and Barack Obama and given to her as a personal gift.— Bitch. STILL my superhero name. (@SamuraiKnitter) July 15, 2018
There is more!
Julie continues that on the second day, Elizabeth II opted for her mother’s brooch she had worn to her husband’s funeral.

On the third and final day of the head of the USA’ visit, she wore Sapphire Jubilee Brooch.
It contains over ten carats of sapphires in several shades of blue, and is just stunning. pic.twitter.com/H3M6Kwx99h— Bitch. STILL my superhero name. (@SamuraiKnitter) July 15, 2018
It's called the Sapphire Jubillee Brooch, and it was given to the Queen of England as a gift for ruling for eleventy billion (okay, 65). From Canada. You know, who Trump's been screaming about and insulting. The commonwealth country and one of the UK's greatest allies. Them.— Bitch. STILL my superhero name. (@SamuraiKnitter) July 15, 2018
Although nobody on the behalf of the royal family commented on the Queen’s choice of these brooches (which is not surprising), we have always appreciated the Queen’s ability to send hidden messages through fashion.
What do you think? Was it a diplomatic move or a mere coincidence? Share your ideas in the comments!
