Finally: Victoria Beckham Revealed The Reason Why She Chose Such A Gloomy Dress For Harry And Meghan’s Wedding
If you watched the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, you must have noticed Victoria Beckham's surprising look. Among the vibrant colors of famous guests’ garments, she stood out in a dark blue medium length dress and a headpiece to match.
Shoes were the only colorful item on her. Perhaps, they saved the look from being totally 'funeral', although a number of media sources still called her outfit exactly that.
What made Victoria go for this particular dress in the first place? The designer has finally explained her choice with a video on Instagram.
So, I went to a little wedding a few months ago. It was the royal wedding, actually, not such a little wedding. What do you wear to a royal wedding? I knew that I wanted something that was appropriate, something that was feminine, something that I felt comfortable in, but I also wanted it to have a little bit of edge. So I designed this dress that has this really beautiful D-ring neck detail, because I love the toughness. It's very slimming, that is always key.
However, Victoria said nothing about the color. Perhaps, she considers it appropriate, since the dress wasn’t black, anyway. If you take a closer look, you will see that the fabric of this dark dress is rather light.
A nice slash down the front to get some skin out. And then we've got these slits in the sleeves, so when I wore it, I had it open, so I could get some arm out. It was the hottest day that I think England has ever had. I was sitting in the car for two hours before I got to the royal wedding, and I felt cool and comfortable, so it's perfect for summer.
Who would have thought that this outfit was fit for a sweltering summer day! But Victoria couldn’t have failed as a designer, which she cared to point out to those who have doubted her.
Let us remind you that after the royal wedding Victoria sold the original dress, and donated the money to charity. Also, the dress will be released in her new collection in November. It will cost $1,971.
