Life is cyclical. So chances are, some situations will repeat with the roles reversed. This is especially true about parent-child relationships. At first, mom and dad take care of their little children, then there comes a time when a grown-up son or daughter ensures the parents’ decent old age.

In such cases, there is often a question whether to let your parents move in with you and your new family or you move in with them to provide care and assistance? This choice is never easy because it involves interests of different people.

At one of the forums, a 39-year-old man shared his story, seeking advice. He is dating a 38-year-old woman who has a 13-year-old daughter and an elderly mother. The man has found a common language with the teenager and wants to start a family. But his sweetheart said that they will live together only if her mom moves in with them.

To her, her mother is her everything. She has told me, that her mother is more important than her own child. She calls her mother her baby.

The man clearly didn’t expect this turn of events. He is not ready to share his flat with a stranger 24/7, who also requires care and attention.
