A birth of a child is a blissful event for the whole family. However, along with the joy of motherhood, women sometimes suffer from postpartum depression, which is expressed in behavioral and emotional changes: frequent mood swings, crankiness, anxiety, loss of appetite, fatigue, and so on. Explanation

A study was conducted to find out the links between depression and the way of holding the baby. 43 women took part during three periods: during pregnancy, two months after labor, and when the baby was 19 months old. The results showed that two-thirds of mothers held their babies on the left side of their body and reported a decrease in depressive symptoms. Meanwhile, women who preferred right-sided holding of their 2-month-olds reported an increase in depressive symptoms in that period significantly more often.
