Price Of Motherhood: In One Photo, Woman Showed What She Had To Endure To Give Birth Through IVF

Unfortunately, not everyone can get pregnant, bear a child, and give birth whenever they please. For many, it takes years, and for some – dozens of years. But women don’t despair and do everything they can to discover the true happiness of motherhood. Fortunately, the science and technology has made huge advancements – 50 years ago, few people believed in IVF technology, but as for now, it has helped hundreds of thousands or even millions of women to become mothers.

On August 11, 2018, a very powerful photo was posted on Facebook and instantly spread across the internet.

One wouldn’t understand what the shot means if it wasn’t for the caption:

This is the first time I have been asked to do a photo like this! I was honored and wanted to create something special!
Mom said, "4 years, 7 attempts, 3 miscarriages and 1,616 shots."

According to CNN, Patricia O'Neill managed to get pregnant three times with the help of IVF, but all embryo transfers resulted in miscarriages because of her increased blood-clotting.

And then, a miracle happened! The next embryo survived, but she had to get Heparin shots twice a day for the whole duration of pregnancy to thin her blood. In total, there were 1,616 such injections, no more and no less... After 9 months through doctors’ efforts and Patricia's patience, baby London was born!
