Children and teenagers can be very cruel and Josie Desgrand from Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia, knows this more than most.
At 16, she weighed 280 pounds and shuddered when she saw her own reflection in the mirror. Josie was the largest girl in her class, so she was an easy target for constant taunts and ridicule. However, the traumatizing bullying at school wasn’t Desgrand’s only problem as her weight started threatening her health.
Despite the fact that Josie’s previous weight-loss attempts had little effect, she firmly decided to change her lifestyle. She made a pact with herself:
No longer fat Josie.
I went into my room and stripped down to my underwear. I took pictures of myself at different angles, excited for my next weight loss journey. I used tape measure and wrote down my dimensions knowing I had a long way to go, but I wanted to track every change.
- shared Desgrand.
First of all, the Australian completely excluded sugar from her diet, replacing it with fruits in very modest amounts. In addition, she stopped eating carbs and had not eaten bread, pasta, and her favorite chocolate for a whole year.
Josie didn't forget about physical exercise. The girl trained on her own, taking cues from YouTube videos. In addition to losing weight, she was also saving money.
In less than a year, Desgrand was able to shed more than half her weight!
Another of Josie’s goals was to wear a luxurious evening gown, which she picked earlier, to her school formal. And so she did!
Now people turn to the girl for motivation and recommendations. Josie runs a blog on Instagram, where she talks about healthy eating and makes menus for those who decide to lose weight.
Desgrand’s motivation was photos she took of herself every week, comparing and noting how her body was gradually changing.
If you also decide to embark on a weight-loss journey, be sure to take pictures of yourself and measure your dimensions. Nothing motivates better than your own success!
