5XL Man Endured Mockery Most Of His Life But Overcame His Insecurity And Became A Sought-After Model

Date July 1, 2019 11:29

Models with parameters close to 90-60-90 have for some time stopped ruling the fashion world podiums. Nowadays, people with a non-standard appearance who don’t fit into the common framework are becoming more and more popular. Arcadio Del Valle is a clear example.

Ady, as he calls himself on Instagram, originates from Boston, Massachusetts. For as long as he can remember, he has always been plump and often suffered mockery.

Arcadio felt unsure of himself for many years. He believed the extra weight spoiled his life and used to think that the ideal weight has its limits and he didn’t fit into them. However, everything changed in 2015, when the body-positive trend started evolving rapidly. Ady was inspired by Tess Holliday and other plus-size models, so he started asking himself: "Am I worse?"

He started his own Instagram page and began to publish unretouched photos. Slowly but surely, more people began to find out about Arcadio, and – flash-forward a year later – he took part in a fashion show at New York Fashion Week!

Gradually, Ady got rid of self-doubt. He accepted himself and his own body, and finally started living a complete life, forgetting about regrets and sufferings. Now, the guy’s goal is to start working with such famous brands as Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

At the same time, Ady still periodically faces negative reflection yet tries not to pay attention to it. He follows his goal firmly and confidently and wants other people to overcome their fear of self-expression.

Sounds quite noble, doesn’t it?
