No Sooner Said Than Done! She Didn’t Want Him To Marry A Fat Woman, So She Decided To Change

Trainee midwife Claire Crowther felt terrible in her body, which was the result of her addiction to pizza and junk food. She could no longer look in the mirror.
Claire says that the problems with her figure began in the university. She simply lost control of the weight and could no longer fit into her working uniform. She could hardly allocate time for physical exercise in her busy daily routine and completely switched to unhealthy nutrition when she worked night shifts as a student:
I ate what I liked. I was a comfort eater and stress meant that I reached for the ice cream and pizza all too often. At 5ft 3, I tipped the scales at nearly 14 stone and I couldn't bear to look at myself in the mirror.
My long term health was in jeopardy, I was classed as morbidly obese and I was a bad role model for my daughter Molly.
The woman was so discouraged that she even refused to marry her beloved partner:
I couldn't stand the person looking back at me in the mirror, every photo of me was so bad that I deleted them off the camera to avoid having to look at myself
Claire couldn’t take it anymore after one day a patient's husband, who was waiting for his wife to give birth, negatively commented on how she looked:
I was mortified and although I knew he was right, the fact that a total stranger had passed a comment left me feeling upset, but also determined to change myself.
Claire decided to act and signed up for a local club for losing weight with her fiancé Stephen. After 10 months, she lost 55 lbs.
I felt great. My eating style was finally normalized. However, the body was still far from perfect, and I also noticed that the weight began to decrease slower.
In September 2011, she enrolled in a local gym:
When I came to the gym for the first time, I was overwhelmed with fear. I had no idea what to do, where to start. My sister also went to this gym, and she introduced me to group exercise.
Being the kid that always had a sick note for PE and having spent my entire adult life loving life sitting on the sofa, I had always hated the idea of jumping around getting sweaty, but I knew I had to do something.
Claire performed a whole range of exercises, including intensive cardio.
I liked the energy I received from training, and I made new friends. The gym became not just a place where I could become slim and achieve my goals, but it also gave me the opportunity for communication. I found myself spending more and more time there, signing up for new classes.
Claire continued to lose weight, and by August 2012, she lost more than 80 lbs. She could finally wear clothes of the sixth size.
Stephen proposed to her again, and Claire agreed:
I knew that I could finally go and buy a wedding dress and wouldn’t look like a fat bride.
Fitness has completely changed Claire’s lifestyle and appearance. It became an integral part of her life:
Now I am a qualified midwife. When I don’t spend time with my daughter, I enjoyably visit the gym.
After the wedding, Claire decided to challenge her body again. Together with her husband, they followed a special nutrition plan and performed intensive workouts with a personal trainer.
The husband’s support was the key to my weight loss. Working out together is incredibly cool.
We are one week away from the end of the 17-week challenge and we cannot believe the change in our bodies. I have now transformed my body twice, firstly from obese to healthy and now from healthy to athletic.
Claire says that now she has a slim and toned body, which she is proud of:
We can’t believe that we have obtained such great bodies, because once there was only fat in their place.
As Claire tells, her daughter Molly is simply delighted with the mother’s achievements. Now she is a good example for her daughter.
I feel amazing. My health has improved, and I no longer hate the one who looks at me from the mirror. I can now appear in public without embarrassment and live my life to the fullest.
In our aspirations, we often tend to stop halfway to the goal. Let Claire be an inspiring example for those who seek to change their lives for the better.
