Causes of tooth decay

There are 4 main factors that contribute to the development of tooth decay:

  1. Lack of minerals (magnesium, calcium, phosphorus) in the diet.
  2. Lack of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K and especially D).
  3. Overindulgence in sugar-containing products.
  4. Overindulgence in foods rich in phytic acid (legumes, nuts, cereals).

Ways to solve the problem

To avoid complications, it is recommended to let a certified dentist treat tooth decay. However, there are several ways to prevent and stop its development to facilitate the main treatment, as well as to strengthen the tooth enamel at home. These include the following:

  • brush your teeth twice a day with high-fluoride toothpaste;
  • rinse your mouth with a tablespoon of sesame or coconut oil, and then spit out the liquid;

  • aloe vera: oral care gel with this herb can help fight bacteria;
  • avoid foods containing phytic acid (as already mentioned above, it is found in cereals and legumes; in particular, red beans, wheat, and rice);
  • eat licorice root; it has antibacterial properties that can facilitate the treatment of tooth decay.

Additional recommendations

In addition to these tips, we recommend avoiding high-sugar foods, like sugary soft drinks, sweets, and pastries. It is better to replace them with honey or maple syrup.

Excessive consumption of fruit juices can also contribute to tooth decay due to the high content of acid and sugar. It is recommended to rinse your mouth or drink plain water after a glass of juice, as well as after each meal.

We recommend replacing artificial sweeteners with stevia.
