At What Age, According To Men, Do Women Become Too Old For Relationships?

What should be the age gap between a man and a woman in a relationship? The answer to this question varies depending on the country, its culture and traditions, as well as on the personal preferences of each partner. For example, according to a 2013 survey in the US, the most couples had an age gap of 1 year. Of course, this is only an average number and everything here is purely individual.

Apparently, there is a formula for calculating the acceptable age of your partner. Divide your age by 2 and add 7 for the minimum age boundary. And to get the maximum acceptable age of anyone you want to date, subtract 7 from your age and multiply the resulting number by 2.

Generally, this rule is more suitable for men than for women. Thus, 40-year-old ladies say that they are more comfortable with 35-year-old men than with 27-year-olds, as the formula suggests.
Elizabeth Bruch, a professor of sociology at the University of Michigan, and her colleagues analyzed 186,000 messages sent by men and women on a popular online dating service in four major cities: New York, Boston, Chicago, and Seattle. The results showed that men under 40 are more likely to choose women of their own age and older, and women aged 40+ choose younger partners. Men’s desirability peaks at age 50, while women’s desirability is never as high as at 18 years of age.
It appears that the lack of interest in 50-year-old women by their male peers has more to do with men’s preferences than the actual age of the women. Perhaps women in this beautiful age should focus on younger men, too.
After all, men’s choice of older women ensures:
- balance and comfort;
- honesty and openness;
- care and respect;
- satisfaction in the relationship;
- maturity and wisdom.

Now there are a lot of couples with an age gap that doesn’t conform to any set rules. If you remember that the main thing in a relationship is mutual and true love, it doesn’t matter how many physical years separate the partners. What do you think?
