According to recent research, sperm samples of men aged 22 to 60 have shown that the death of damaged sperm cells decreases with age, and defective sperm isn’t eliminated in senior men as effectively as their younger counterparts. After 35, men are more likely to experience impaired sperm motility and store a large number of defective sperm.

After 40, men need already more time to fertilize a woman, and after 45 this process becomes even more difficult.

The reason for this may be attributed to genetics, but the environmental factor should also be considered. To maintain optimal fertility, both men and women need to take care of their health, give up bad habits, eat right and choose a favorable climate. This allows you to keep fertile function at a necessary level for longer.

Apart from the above-mentioned factors, there are a number of other, less obvious reasons for reduced fertility in men:
- Sexually transmitted diseases.
- High-temperature influence (e.g., sauna, hot bath) reduces the number of sperm for 1-4 months.
- Bad habits (e.g., smoking, alcohol, fatty food).
- Even some antidepressants can damage sperm DNA.
- Prolonged use of a laptop on the lap (hot environment harms sperm).
Male fertility depends on many factors that can’t be controlled, such as genetics and age. However, there are also factors that are easy to influence – bad habits, proper nutrition, high temperatures.
