Date May 29, 2018 18:39

When the residue forms on an iron, using it turns into torture. Damaged clothes, stains out of the blue, unpleasant smell.

To make ironing fun (or at least not annoying), clean your device. We hope you will like at least one of the ways listed below!

Salt

  1. Put an old towel on an ironing board, or you can use a cutting board covered with wax paper.
  2. Sprinkle one tablespoon of large-grain salt over the towel.
  3. Heat the iron to maximum. Mind that the steam function must be turned off.
  4. Iron the towel in the area, where the salt is, without applying much pressure. The residue will quickly stick to the salt, and the soleplate of the iron will shine!

Vinegar

  1. Mix vinegar and salt in equal proportion. Heat the mixture but do not let it boil. The smell will not be pleasant, but it works!
  2. Cool the mixture so that it won’t burn your hands. Put on protective gloves and soak a piece of cloth in it. Wipe the soleplate of the iron. If some especially persistent spots of residue won’t come off, brush them.
  3. The brush should be soft and definitely not metallic.
  4. Then, wipe the iron soleplate with a clean cloth. Turn on the iron and iron some old cloth as the final cleaning step.

  1. Let the water out of the iron.
  2. Turn it on, set the cotton fabrics ironing mode.
  3. Take a piece of dense cotton cloth and put it on the ironing board. Squeeze a little of specialized iron cleaning product on the cloth.
  4. "Iron" the piece of cloth with the cleaning product on it.
  5. Then, turn the iron off, wait for it to cool completely. Check for remaining residue. If it is still there, repeat the procedure. If not, iron an old piece of cloth as the final step.

Cleaning the steam outlets

  1. Soak a cotton swab in the acetic salt solution and clean each opening.
  2. This way you will remove the dirt, preventing the full output of steam, which can also stain clothes and underwear.
  3. After cleaning the openings, use the cotton swab soaked in clean water.

Other ways

Good old soda does a good job of removing the residue. Mix soda with water to make a paste. Wipe the soleplate of the iron with this mass, and then clean it with a piece of cloth.

Pour water with vinegar in equal amounts into the iron reservoir. Then turn on the iron and activate the steam function. Next, iron any piece of cotton cloth for a few minutes. After that, pour the solution out of the tank, and wipe the soleplate with a clean towel.
