5 Typical Beauty-Mistakes In Dealing With Oily Skin

Date August 6, 2018

Probably every girl dreams of beautiful and healthy skin, but sometimes a silky texture and radiance turns into an unappealing greasy sheen. In some cases it is caused by natural features, in others - improper care.

It is worth noting that greasy skin is no better or worse than normal or sensitive. The only difference between them is the amount of sebum (surface skin fat) produced. Oily skin has many advantages too – such as it will resist wrinkles for much longer than dry skin. However, it requires careful and, most of all, proper care.

Today we will tell you about 5 beauty-mistakes typical of women with oily skin.

1. Too aggressive scrubs

Oily skin can be very sensitive. Using aggressive peeling products, as well as hard brushes and other tools daily can lead to inflammation and irritation. In addition, an excessive use of scrubs will only aggravate the problem - after losing the natural protective layer due to frequent exfoliation, the skin will try to protect itself from the effects of external factors by releasing more sebum.

Exfoliate dead skin cells not more than 2 times a week. And in this case choose scrubs without large and hard particles. An optimal choice for this type of skin is soft peels with matte effect.

2. Neglecting moisturizing creams

Many girls think: why should I moisturize the skin, which is already fat? And this is one of the most common mistakes. Neglecting daily moisturizing won’t reduce the production of sebum, quite the contrary. As it is stressful for skin, it will increase the production of sebum. Skin cells will start taking care about moisturizing on their own, since the owner is not going to take proper care of them.

3. Clogging pores with makeup

Some women with oily skin tend to get rid of the oily sheen and mask pimples under a thick layer of powder or foundation, which clogs the pores even more. To break this vicious circle you will need a good primer or liquid foundation. Choose products labeled “non-comedogenic” - it means that this product won’t provoke acne and pimples, and doesn’t clog pores.

In addition, give preference to water-based foundations - your skin already has enough oil. Due to their light texture they are perfect for the summer season.

In order not to repowder your T-zone every hour, get special matting napkins and use them when needed.

4. Neglecting SPF products

Most sunscreens have a very thick oily texture, so women with greasy skin tend to avoid them. And they are right! After using such products in less than an hour your face will shine like a pancake. Besides, the use of sunscreens is often followed by pimples due to the comedogenic mineral oils they contain.

However, it doesn’t mean that you should completely let your guard down. Now many powders and foundations contain the sun protection factor (SPF) 25, and for the beach we recommend you using light essences and refreshing sunscreen gels.

5. Using alcohol-containing products

Oily skin is prone to pimples. And what is the best way to dry them? Alcohol, of course! That’s why many girls rub their faces with tonics and other alcohol containing products several times a day. However, their aggressive composition damages skin and dries it out. As a counter measure, you are likely to get even more sebum secretion as well as flaky skin.

In addition, no foundation, primer or powder wears well on the skin dried out by alcohol. We also recommend to refuse ointments and creams based on salicylic acid.
