1. Put pasta only in boiling water. Farfalle, tagliatelle, spaghetti or common elbow macaroni – regardless of the kind you should put them into the water only after it has boiled. Otherwise, you risk getting a bland gummy chuck.

3. For the best texture and taste, choose pasta made of hard wheat flour. Macaroni products of high quality are characterized by clear yellow color and smooth texture. 

4. Choose proper water to pasta ratio. It is also recommended to use a big casserole. When choosing a pot, take this ratio into consideration: 3,5 oz of dry pasta per 4 cups of water. Also, keep in mind that pasta doubles or even triples in volume when boiled.

5. To prevent pasta from sticking together, add a tablespoon of high-quality olive oil in water while boiling.

6. Add salt to the water before the pasta. The optimal proportion for salt is 2 teaspoons per 4 cups of water.

7. Don’t cover the casserole with the lid while cooking. Otherwise, pasta will become gummy and tasteless.

8. Don’t rinse pasta after boiling, Italian chefs never do it. It will stick together under streams of hot water and will continue boiling which may overcook it as well.

10. It is not recommended to strain spaghetti with a colander. It’s better to get it out of the water with kitchen tweezers or other appropriate tools. They will also become handy serving the pasta on the plates.
